Neyhart, Anderson, Flynn & Grosboll is the latest configuration of the union-side labor law firm founded by former California Supreme Court Justice Mathew O. Tobriner in 1935.  After Justice Tobriner’s departure, the firm was carried on by Stanley Neyhart and Joseph Grodin.  Mr. Grodin also later served on the California Supreme Court.

Since its inception, the members of the firm have been engaged in the practice of both union-side labor and employee benefits law.  While remaining small, the firm has always maintained a reputation for the highest quality of legal representation for its clients.

Tribute to Joseph Grodin

The Firm pays tribute to former California Supreme Court Justice, Joseph Grodin, who died April 6, 2025. Joe Grodin was a great man. He was a visionary, wonderful mentor, excellent professor at UC Law San Francisco (formerly Hastings), thoughtful scholar,  well respected Court of Appeal and Supreme Court Justice and advocate for workers’ rights and labor unions. In the 1950’s, Joe joined the firm of Tobriner and Lazarus, which later became Tobriner, Neyhart, Grodin & Beeson, a predecessor to our firm (and the Beeson Tayer firm in Oakland). We are proud of our Firm’s history, with both Matthew Tobriner and Joe Grodin serving on the California Supreme Court, and Leland Lazarus serving as a Judge on the Superior Court. Joe Grodin was dedicated to justice, fairness and the rule of law, as well as the civil rights and liberties of all. He will be missed.
